NEW YORK HARBOR

Aboard a beautiful classic yacht.

  • Hoboken!

The Shipyard Marina, Sappho’s home, is located in Northeast Hoboken along the beautiful waterfront promenade. There is a NY Waterway Ferry Terminal on Pier 14 which is a one minute walk to the Marina. Other transportation options include driving (right on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel), NJ Transit 126 bus stop is 2 blocks away and the NJ Transit PATH terminal is less than a mile down the river.

  • The Sailboat

Sappho is a Cherubini 44 and designed by the legendary John Cherubini based in Delran, New Jersey. This is a magnificent, distinctive sailing yacht, as fast and comfortable as she is beautiful. Her lines reflect classic themes in American sailboats including the clipper ships, Chesapeake Bay bugeyes, and some designs of L. Francis Herreshoff, especially Ticonderoga and Mobjack. These classic lines are time-tested and most certainly sea-proven.  She can sustain speeds over 12 knots, almost 50 percent above theoretical hull speed because of her narrow design and sharp bow.

FAQs

What should I bring?

The weather can be unpredictable so dress like a sailor. Sailors typically have a long sleeve and something to block the wind or rain just in case. Ideally, sneakers or closed toe shoes are worn on a boat to ensure there aren’t any stubbed toes when moving about. We encourage you to bring some snacks and your favorite beverages. We even have refrigeration on board along with the two heads (bathrooms).

What if there is no wind?

Typically no wind is only a temporary thing and our vessel Sappho is prepared. The inboard engine is quickly engaged to continue your tour throughout the New York Harbor.

What if there is foul weather and/or we want to cancel?

There is the rare occurrence that your trip will need to be postponed due to weather. We will contact you to discuss the ideal dates to reschedule your tour.

Our cancellation policy adheres to our strict mission "all our customers have fun!". If the weather is too cold or rainy, we will work to reschedule. If you are traveling to see us and would prefer a refund, we will oblige. Rest assured, we will make sure your cruise is exceptional and the weather makes sense for us to go out.
