How can I meet other members?

The club offers at least 1 social event per month. This is the best place to meet other members. Events include but are not limited to; trivia nights, oyster night, potlucks, and game nights. Most events take place on our private pier. Click here for a full calendar of our events for this season.

How do I stay up-to-date with club communication?

The club operates a WhatsApp group chat and an email list. You will be added to both upon joining the club. All club communication takes place on these platforms. This includes reservation arrangements, social event information, and general announcements. It is the member's responsibility to monitor these channels to stay as up-to-date as possible.

How do I move up in the club's skill levels?

To advance through our levels, members must first master the skills required for each stage. Progression is evaluated through both a practical, on-the-water assessment as well as a short theoretical exam. We offer a suite of courses, clinics, and prep classes to help you gain the necessary skills for advancement. Click here to see our full schedule of lessons and curriculum.

How does the club’s skill level system work?

We welcome all experience levels—even complete beginners. Our club offers five progressive levels that guide you from basic sailing skills to confident sailing. As you advance, you’ll build knowledge, gain experience, and demonstrate key skills to move up. Levels listed below:

  • Beginner Crew
  • Competent Crew
  • Provisional Skipper
  • Skipper
  • Racing Skipper

Where can we sail?

Boats can sail from the George Washington to the Verrazano Bridge. Boats are NOT permitted to sail in the East River.

How do I get on a boat?

Two conditions must be met for the boat to leave the dock:

  • 1 skipper must be on board
  • A minimum of 2 people must be on board

Once these conditions have been met, and a verbal agreement is made with the skipper, you can reserve your spot on our reservation spreadsheet and you are all set! We host a WhatsApp group chat with all club members to help facilitate finding other members to sail with.

I just joined today, can I take a boat out?

Yes, you have access to your benefits on your first day of membership. Make sure to utilize the WhatsApp group to find a spot on a boat.

How long is the sailing season?

May 1 through November 1
